Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has observed a notable increase in the number of taxpayers in the current fiscal year. Dhruba Kafle, Chief of KMC's Revenue Department, reported that the number of taxpayers rose from 324,120 in the last fiscal year to 343,340 in the current fiscal year.

Breaking down the increase, Kafle mentioned that 35,057 taxpayers were added under the "rental taxpayers" category, 31,916 under "business taxpayers," and 52,486 under "property taxpayers." The upward trend in the number of taxpayers is reflected across various tax categories, contributing to a significant increase in KMC's revenue collection.

As of the mid-point of the current fiscal year, KMC has collected approximately Rs 5 billion in revenue. The metropolis collects revenue under 36 different headings, encompassing property, house rent, business, advertisement, entertainment, land, and VAT.
